A transformational experience this weekend: Kundalini Dance

This Saturday I practiced for the very first time Kundalini Dance and I got fascinated. We were a group about 10 women together with the instructor.

We introduced ourselves and prayed before starting. The instructor guided us. The workshop consisted basically of letting our body move and dance while focusing our mind in the points of meditation given by the instructor.

The theme was “personal empowerment” and the sensuous music enlightened us in the transformational path, which covered these areas:

1.- Follow your own values;

2.- Take on responsibility in your life;

3.- Don´t compare to other people;

4.- Set Limits;

5.- Conviction (in goals, actions);

6.- Take Action: pursue your dreams;

7.- Show your self, who you are;

8.- Reward yourself, be kind to yourself (envision a crown of light over your head);

We were dancing through these 8 stages of personal empowerment and all women felt highly connected to each other and shared the love. We finished praying again. Each of us picked a card of guidance from Doreen Virtue angel tarot cards. Mine was White Tara!

Watercolor & Meditation with Melissa Harris

“Painting is my medicine…Through these decades of a sometimes erratic and ever-evolving life, painting had been the one constant. Relationships and homes have come and gone, but my paint box is always with me.”Melissa Harris

http://www.melissaharris.com

I hace recently taken a workshop with gifted, amazing artist Melissa Harris, on Watercolor & Meditation. I simply loved it.

Art is also “medicine” to me. I had not touched my brushes and pad for such a long time that this day was a total re-awakening to the creative facet of my personality.

We were a perfect number of “students” -about 12 or 15- and many were totally new to watercolor, or painting in general. Our workshop started lighting some candles and praying together in a circle. Then, Melissa devoted some time to explain to us the dynamics of the workshop. We introduced to each other, picked sample paintings we would later work on, and Melissa gave to us some advice and recommendations.

Until lunch we worked on the first watercolor. After lunch, we started the second one. The last 40 minutes we commented each other paintings and they were stunning.

Here I show the first watercolor of the session. I was not very concerned about the outcome, but specially about the “process”. Time went so fast and it was pleasant indeed to paint in silence with the soft sound of beautiful melodies that Melissa had chosen.

Setting your intentions

HNYIt is common the need and wish to start fresh and make all sort of improvements with the New Year -quit smoking, visit the gym more regularly, etc.-.

I applaude to all who have already set their intentions, since it is the first step for change and transformation. I did a little “ritual” after midnight on New Years´ Eve in candle light and will try to keep with the “fresh” pace throughout the 12 months to come.

Happy New Year! Happy New Beginnings!

How To Open Your Crown Chakra In 3 Easy Steps, by Hayley Melmerstein

The crown chakra is the center for trust, devotion, inspiration, happiness, and positivity. It’s also the center for deeper connection with ourselves and deeper connection with a force of life that is greater than ourselves. For this reason, it can be quite useful to have tools to open the crown chakra. Here are three of my favorites that will have this chakra open in no time!

1. Get inspired.

One way to open the crown chakra is through inspiration. For example, think of a music concert that you attended or a song you love. Remember how that made you feel. If you enjoyed the concert or song you probably felt uplifted, inspired, open and positive. That is the feeling of the open crown. To open the crown chakra you can listen to inspiring music, take a walk in nature, read an uplifting poem, or see a gorgeous sunset. Anything that brings you inspiration will open your crown chakra. Take a moment to reflect on what brings you inspiration. Be sure to include some inspiration in your daily life in order to keep the crown chakra open.

2. Practice affirmations

A second way to open the crown chakra is through the use of inspiring affirmations. For example, repeat this affirmation to yourself:

I am open and expanded.
I expand my idea of what is possible.
As I expand my idea of what is possible, I help to bring it in.
I am open and expanded.

Become aware now of the open, expanded feeling at the top of your head. Again, this is the feeling of the open crown chakra. Repeat inspiring affirmation through out the day as a way to keep the crown chakra open.

3. Visualize.

A third way to open the crown chakra is through visualization. Take a moment now and image a golden orb of light filling the top of your head. See this golden orb of light growing and expanding. Imagine it is elevating your thoughts and filling you with a feeling of positivity. Imagine streams of golden light coming from the top of your head, connecting you up into the heavens. Feel an open and expanded feeling at the top of your head. Feel your oneness and unity with all of life. Feel your connection to a force of life greater than yourself. Affirm: I am connected to a force of life greater than myself. Feel this connection and know that you are never alone.

As you hold this vision you are helping to open the crown chakra and strengthening your connection with a force of life that is greater than yourself.

As you can see, learning to open your crown chakra is a very valuable tool. Work with these tools daily in order to feel greater inspiration, trust, positivity, and connection to a force of life that is greater than your self.

Living longer and happier: go green, yoga and spirituality!

The time of excess is over. The horizon we walk towards is of well being, both physical and spiritual. Starting with eating and continuing with meditation and yoga. The stressful and complex modern societies require that we develop stronger emotional intelligence and skills to endure frustration and failure. Celebrities are choosing to spend more and more time close to the nature -beach, farm- practicing surf, growing vegetables, gardening…, in short, benefitting for a green, eco, clean lifestyle where some sort of discipline and oriental philosophy are present too.

I wanna recall on the importance of yoga, meditation, spirituality, on positive psychology and, of course, on eating healthy.

Here there are some links which embody this spirit:
